MONDAY'S OB PROGRESS - Clue #5

To be on the safe side, I check my s.a. before sewing: My Janome6500 set at 1.8 spi, straight stitch w/needle position at 41 works out just right -- the seam is 1 to 1.5 threads inside the 1/4" s.a. Great! I love it when a plan comes together.

Using the EZ Angle ruler as Bonnie suggests,  I cut a few triangles from 2" strips and prepared to sew some Clue #5's together.

Hey! It worked just great. I'm happy.

They measure what they are supposed to so now I can crank out the other 348! No problem. lol.

I am having a lot of fun making the units for Orca Bay Mystery -- especially the string blocks. Those are my favorites! Some people say string quilting is messy, but I say, "hey, what mess?". lol

Missy looking on and keeping me company. When I am finished pressing a stack of blocks she hurries back to this end of the pressing surface where it is so nice and warm and curls up, usually some purring is added.

That's it for today.  Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have plenty of time to play with some fabric and sew, even if it is almost Christmas!

Hugs,

Great progress so far. So glad I'm not the only one who has had a string bomb go off next to the sewing machine. Looks like you are all set to crank out the rest.

Hi Cyn! It is great to hear of another bonnie fanatic from north count so cal. I really cleaned up for my photo. I had my red strip pile for a week falling all over my sewing room. I went crazy today and scooped everything up. I was worried about cutting my red strings like the one you did in the photo below. I did cut a couple at 5 " instead of 5 1/2 ", that hurt. Merry Christmas!

Cyn, your blocks look great! I actually enjoy making the strings the most.....yes it is messy which drives me crazy but the easiest way is to just drop them on the floor. Missy sure looks comfy!

Hi Cyn, I too ended up sewing on the Inklingo stitching line on the HSTs for most of them. I didn't think of that until I was partially done, duh. Was a whole lot easier with the Inklingo seam lines.

Love the new lingo...string bomb. I really enjoyed making mine and I see no solution about the mess they make unless it is just to get on with the sewing and clean up at the end ... live with it in other words. Your pieces are looking great. Quilt On!

Hi Cyn, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting your blog and seeing your progress on the mystery quilt. I really like your blue string blocks. Great colors. It's going to bedelightful to see all these quilts come together being all alike and all different at the same time. Exciting. LOL Also, enjoyed all your other projects. I crochet also, and used that same pattern for a baby quilt a couple of years ago in ALL PINK.
