MINI ARRIVES!!

A Friendship Embroidery Mini Quilt has arrived at my home all the way from Tasmania, Australia! It is so pretty. I love everything about it. Thank you, THANK YOU to Jenni for making it. Jenni even put hanging sleeves on the back and a label! Look close for the darling little kitty buttons Jenni added. Really high on the Cuteness-Scale! Jenni wrote a lovely note and included a picture of where she lives. Lovely.

Jenni made and included two NeedleCases. She said one is to keep and one to share with a friend. How sweet is that?! I can hardly wait to hang this gorgeous quilt up, but want to finish the re-do in my sewing room first. It will look fabulous, but I want its new home to be on a clean and freshly painted wall. Yippee Skippee. I am so happy that I just don't have words to express it!

SAN DIEGO QUILT SHOW

Some friends and I took the Coaster Train down to San Diego to see the San Diego Quilt Show last Friday. The train was fun and the Show was great! There were so many gorgeous quilts at the show it was hard to choose just a few to share with you here.  I couldn't resist the DearJane and 2 Orca Bays. The rainbow quilt is fun and reminds me of the RSC2012 that so many of us are participating in.  The workmanship on these quilts is amazing! The photos I took? Not so much. Enjoy the show. . .

ANTIQUE 1840 HEXIE QUILT. . .

This lovely antique Hexie quilt still has the papers inside that were used to sew it together! It is fun to try and read some of the dates. Some of the paper is recycled letters. Cool. This quilt is very very large and due to age it is also quite fragile. Isn't it lovely?

LONG BEACH INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL

My ECQ Guild chartered a bus and 50 of us went to Long Beach, California, last Friday, for the International Quilt Festival. OMGosh but their Convention Center is HUGE! We walked until we dropped. lol.

The vendors were fun and the quilts were gorgeous! Unfortunately many of the quilts had "no photo" signs posted so I can't share those with you. I do understand the policy, though, as these are quilts that are entered in contests and/or have a copyright attached to them. But, I was successful at getting some pictures. . . and here they are:

Small things can be fun, too

Even little things can be fun. Such as a mug rug created for someone special. This one is for one of the darling ladies that works in DD#2's office. Angel loves everything to do with Monkeys... so monkey fabric is it. I call this little project "Monkeying Around". She'll get a kick out of it.

Remember the bowtie blocks that so many of us made several months ago? I made some out of fruity/veggie fabrics and turned them into placemats... well, a lady who was visiting at Aretoy last week shared her clever idea... cakes! Is this cute or what? The border is the "latte" fabric. Coffee and cake, what could be better?!

That's all there is today; hopefully I'll have some fun pictures tomorrow. Until then I hope you have loads of time to stitch. . .

Tues' Class. . . Mary's Quilt

Isn't this a beautiful quilt? It is made by Mary Tabar. This is considered a 'whole cloth' quilt as there is no piecing. Mary used photo transfer techniques to make this wonderful quilt. This is high-tech quilting: Mary scans items, manipulates them in her computer, and then sends sheets of PFD fabric through a wide carriage printer. The sections are connected and quilted. Wish I had a better picture, as this is a spectacular quilt!
