MAKING JANE

It's time to get going on Jane again. Today's block is: F-6.  It only took an HOUR to make the tiny sq-in-a-square shown below.

This block needs 4 of these. Why did it take so long? Because I thought I'd pre-cut the bits to speed up the PPing... well, that only works if one cuts the pieces the CORRECT size. lol. Oh well, I have until midnight to get this done. Golly hope it doesn't actually take me that long.

DJ Block F6 - partially pieced, but not trimmed.
When PPing I sew right next to the line, on the seam-allowance side... how do you do prefer to do it? I like to allow a smidge to offset the take-up when the s.a. is pressed over.

Until next time. . . thank you for popping in to visit... what are YOU making today?

My DJ is really more of a WIP than a UFO, but I am linking to Leah's UFO party. Stop over and see what every is working on.

Quilty Hugs,

Great going Cyn :) you're further on than me! Funny, when thinking of which block to post this week I looked at this one :)

On this block I would possibly stitch a thread to the inside of the line... to save cutting off any points when joining. Hope this makes sense... hugs Ellyx

Looks like lots of parts. Good luck on this.... It is a long term project.

I haven't committed to doing a DJ but I did get the book.

Good luck on your block. I'm sure the other parts won't take quite so long. I always stitch right on the line for paper piecing, but your logic sounds good. Do you needle turn for the applique or use freezer paper to prep?

For paper piecing, I stitch on the line or just a thread off to the seam allowance side. I mark all around the outside of the square with a highlighter, so I don't trim those until the end. There's a tut on my blog.

I'm so happy for your, getting this out and worked on. I haven't worked on mine in a l-o-n-g time!

Doh! That's happened to me so many times. I'm still not used to the "backwards" part of paper piecing...

Your post reminds me that I have a UFO somewhere in the house from a PP class I took years ago... LOL. I like doing PP to make intricate blocks but it does take me awhile to get in that mindset.
